Literary profile of yourself
My earliest memories of literature took place when I was a little girl at the age of 7 years old. My mother and father would often swap between one another to read one of my favorite books of all times "Green Eggs and Ham." I loved this particular book by Dr. Suess so much that everytime we went out for morning breakfest I would ask the serever if I could order "green eggs and ham." On the otherhand one of my well known nursery rhymes would have to be, "Hush little baby..." Either listening to that nursery rhym on tape or my parents singing it to me, that song always put me at ease and gave me a peace that passed all understanding. I enjoyed this nursey rhyme , and still today I catch myself humming it before I take a test or have a stressful upcoming event. My recent memories to literature was introduced in one of my education classes"The complete Sherlock Holmes." Once again I still find myself "Hush little baby..." and I think I will continue singing this even after I have my children. The best literary text that I have read was To Kill a Mockingbird. I believe that particular story changed my complete perspective on how I look at certain things. Also I after readind it, I take time to think of how others would view the sitation instead of only thinking of myself. I strongly believe that literature matters because people can express their life, and other personal stories that really mattered to them by writting. On the other hand it might not be as important to others because personal stories of others life do not impress them.

What a neat memory. Thanks for sharing. I read Green Eggs and Ham to my two-year old daughter.
ReplyDeleteWhat you said about considering things from others' perspectives is an important point, I think.
I used to love green eggs and ham as well =)
ReplyDeleteMy memories are very similar to yours....my parents would always read books and sings songs to me. I loved it.
I totally agree with you about the importance of literature. I know some people who could care less about others stories...which doesn't make sense to me...but whether I understand it or not it is true.
Green Eggs and Ham is a classic! Lol! I think every should have a copy. I used to laugh out loud when I read the Dr. Seuss books because I loved the rhyming and sometimes it was just so silly.
ReplyDeletePeople's perspectives are important in literature because you get to see what they saw, hear what they heard, and feel what they felt through their words.
Such a sweet story. I really like that you say literature matters because it's how we express our lives. Everyone has a great story to tell but if you can't tell it right then it gets lost in transition.
